One of our main strategies is to use article marketing in order for us to obtain more traffic to our website. In this particular strategy, your main goal is to promote the traffic of your site by means of composing and publishing articles.

There are Three (3) Guidelines to this article marketing traffic strategy that one should focus on and they are:
1. Composing high caliber articles
2. Syndicating them across different websites
3. Having your articles ranked in various search engines

Now we’ll go on to see how we can be able to apply these guidelines:

I.Composing High Caliber Articles

Quality filled content EQUALS loads of people reading them until the end. More clicks to your website EQUALS more traffic. This also signifies that your article will then be republished on more and more websites, bookmarked and linked from one blog to another. This will also increase the exposure of your website as well as the number of your website visitors.

Good Quality Article Vs. A Poorly Composed Article

To simplify, a high quality or high caliber article provides value to the reader and solves the reader’s problem and curiosity. If the article doesn’t do either of these things, then it is therefore a poor article. However, a poor article is not exactly a poorly composed one. There are in fact, a lot of articles out there which are exceptionally written but have very poor content and there are a lot of poorly written articles out there, which provide great value to a lot of readers who are looking for help. These types of articles still attract a huge number of readers to the site they are promoting, despite the fact that it was poorly composed. A poor article, is an article that has poor content, poor information and has no value what so ever.

A good article provides value and/or solves the reader’s query. This is the reason as to why these ‘How-To’, ‘Tips and Tricks’ and ‘Tutorials’ articles are the type of articles that work great nowadays.

II.Publishing Them on Different Websites

Traditional article marketing works by a website owner submitting their article to various article directories, providing their visitors with the permission to republish these articles for free with a link back to your website.

A lot of article marketers compose articles and submit them to article directories and here is where they stop their article marketing efforts. Publishing your articles merely to various article directories worked exceptionally years ago. However, it will not provide you great results anymore.

The good news is that there are infinite amounts of websites, and you should not overlook this whenever you’re dealing with article marketing. Sure you should take advantage of article directories. However, if you submit merely to article directories, you are limiting your exposure and the potential traffic to your website.

Once you master the first guideline, which is composing a high caliber article, you will have a higher opportunity of having your articles get republished on many different websites, as well as many blogs. This happens automatically.

This is why you need to submit articles to as many quality article directories as possible, which will offer you a double benefit: one is direct traffic from the viewers of these directories, and your articles re-published and other sites that attract your target audience.

Whenever possible though, do not forget about blog networks, Wikis, Web 2.0 properties, Social networks and Ezines. Further, if you are really serious about article marketing, you should also make sure not to overlook distribution as well as submission services. These services offer access to a lot of websites and can provide you the opportunity to get your articles published on websites like about.com, specific sites related to your niche that attract your audience, or ezines. These services can be a great way to promote traffic and generate additional profit.

III.Having your articles ranked in various search engines

There are two possibilities whenever you publish an article:
-The article can either get lost in cyberspace, or
-It can get a first page rank of various search engine results.

Most of us would like the second possibility, and there are techniques that you can apply in order to reach this goal. An article that appears high in the rankings (and stays there) signifies pure gold since it will offer free traffic on auto-pilot. If you manage to get your articles ranked in major search engines, then you’ll have more readers of your articles and thus more web visitors.

This is the reason as to why getting your articles ranked should be prioritized. If your main target is to divert more free traffic towards your website then this signifies composing articles following a number of solid basic SEO principles.

Article marketing for traffic means composing quality articles that will entice people to view and read your entire website, publishing these articles to many websites and a large variety of them, and double checking the articles can get a high rank in Google by applying some solid SEO article writing techniques. This is a strategy that has been successful for a lot of marketers and is just as powerful in creating results as it was years ago.

There is tons more when it comes to correctly applying the proper article marketing techniques that will let you work smart and not hard. You can find more great information at Marketing Made Simple.

People who are generally knowledgeable about SEO now unfortunately have to deal with the after effects of the major Google algorithm change that struck article marketing. The worst is over and everything’s fine once again; but unfortunately, we know that everything’s different as well. Like the changes that SEO has experienced over the past decade, spam techniques are now filtered out and search engine-compliant websites are now given much higher importance. Internet content, not just internet marketing alone – is now undergoing through the same rebirth. Unlike before, when the same articles were being republished to 50 if not 100 more different article directories, content for search engines as well as article marketing platforms or content farms are now being evaluated on higher quality as well as original thought and uniqueness.

Since Google’s algorithms have been updated to sort out the lower quality content from the much higher and more valuable information, content creation for SEO needs to be updated as well. You can’t keep applying the same old techniques to new technology, you must either adapt to them or you will get left behind. Plus on the bright side, having higher quality content will give you much greater conversions than if you kept posting the same old 500 word articles.

Expand From Your Bubble – Ever heard of the idiom: don’t keep all your eggs in one basket? The same reigns true for creating a diverse investment portfolio. If one goes down then you still have a few others who will keep you up. Well, you should apply the same rule to your article marketing ventures. You shouldn’t have to rely on only one article directory to publish your articles. Since you will only be presenting information to that select group of people who use that specific article directory. But at the same time you shouldn’t go out and submit your article to hundreds of different directories, either. That’s called spamming and that is what Google has been fixing and trying to change with their new algorithm updates. Instead, it would be smart to pick out a select few article directories and syndicate your content along them. This way, you are presenting your information to readers and webmasters that use other large directories and therefore expanding your syndication, for both yourself and your readers.

Use Original Content – This is something that is very important to stress to new and even existing article marketers. Over the past couple of years search engines and article directories have been cracking down on duplicate content. This has become an especially important concern during the start of 2011 when Google rolled out the new algorithm changes. Now, for those of us who have been using high quality, original content this shouldn’t be a problem. But for those people who have used illicit programs in the past to dupe article directories into accepting the same article, their conversions have started to greatly suffer. Hopefully with these new content changes coming, more article marketers will start to apply themselves into creating unique content that is actually beneficial to the reader and doesn’t just state commonly known facts. Your readers see you as an authoritative person on the subject; why ruin that important connection with a poorly written article that doesn’t end up helping them?

Add The Personal Touch – There used to be a time when one of the largest article directories only required a minimum of 250 words per an article. But ever since late February 2011, EzineArticles applied new quality control guidelines, one of them was raising up the minimum word count to 400 words. Besides many people getting an infarction upon finding that out, just as many were happy to see that higher quality guidelines were being put into place. Less junk in the article directories and search engines meant a greater chance of your article being found.

One of the best article marketing strategies is to stray away from the norm. Instead of writing a 400 word article why not double that? As long as it isn’t obnoxious to read and very mundane, if it provides good information and you also choose to add some truthful (the keyword here is truthful) self-experience tips that you have found out while discovering your market topic or niche, then you will surely have a winner. You will be surprised to see how far conversions can go when you give your readers just that little extra hint of advice that could change everything.

Never Ending Content – That is really only the start to article marketing the right way. For article marketers who are struggling to get their articles read and their links clicked, syndication is a very powerful strategy to help you do just that. Spreading your articles across the web so that no matter which search engine they are using they will find your information would be a godsend for most people. Devote some time into developing a blog or website where you can post an article, and turn it into the hub of your information. From there, start syndicating and start expanding out into the world wide network!

Learning how to submit articles is a must especially for those website owners who would like to increase their traffic as well as their search engine ranking. It is a great way to obtain additional traffic which will therefore promote an online business.

There are lots of articles that can be composed in any type of format. You can compose certain articles such as informational articles, manuals, tutorials, case studies or any type of article writing that you may be good at. Every tiny bit of information that is considered valuable to your readers could be really effective in promoting your website traffic as well as your search engine rankings.

Article marketing can be very effective since it increases your website traffic the longer you put out articles, it will be like a snowball building up as it rolls down the hill. There’s no need for you to submit your article to a bunch of websites merely to get a bunch of backlinks as well. Each article that you publish becomes the starting point, and website owners all over the internet will then read your article and republish it on their own website. Lots of blogs as well as content pages do this regularly. There are even certain websites that are willing to do nearly everything to obtain additional content from any sources they may find. This means that once an article has been submitted in a particular website, it could possibly be republished on 10 or more other websites. Therefore from these websites, your article will also be republished on 10 or more websites thus repeating the chain in a continuous manner.

For example, imagine publishing a certain article on a simple website, then say five or more websites picked up your article and republish them on their very website, if the same amount of websites republishes your article from each site, then you will have more than a hundred and fifty websites with your published article as well as a backlinks all pointing towards your website.

Of course you can always publish your articles to more than one article directory. Each of these directories has its own readership and by doing this, you will be able to spread your article as well as your website in a very effective way. Another example is, if you publish your article to four or five distinct article directories, you will have your articles posted at a lot more than the hundred fifty websites which found your content through only a single directory. These are actually pretty good results for someone who only spent merely an hour or so on writing.

If you publish high quality articles and if the readers find it interesting, you can expect that more websites will be a lot more interested in republishing your articles. You can have your very own article republished in over hundreds of more websites without exerting an additional effort on your part.

It should be clear by now that submitting articles is indeed an efficient way of promoting your website as well as your online business in general. One can easily advertise their website without paying a single cent. This is the reason as to why article marketing is indeed very popular.

Due to our current world crisis, more and more people are experiencing unemployment. Therefore, these people turn to the internet as an alternative way to make money. This is actually a unique and useful way to earn money. If a person has no particular business related idea, or if one is looking for an alternative way to earn a living, why not try article promotion?

If you are a good writer, you can turn it into a freelance job. Luckily, online technology today provides lots of opportunities for these writers to earn good money. Use reliable search engines such as Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. to search for article submission sites. You will then discover countless amounts of websites that are accepting and even paying for article submissions.

Another useful tip is to check out various social networks, forums and reviews which are related to the topic. Furthermore, why not subscribe to the blog via RSS so that you will be updated of the latest news and opportunities regarding the topic which you find interesting?

Mistake #1: Article Marketing is NOT the same as Backlinking.

Despite article marketing being a form of backlinking, not all backlinking is known as article marketing. This is due to the fact that article marketing provides a significant value to the article reader which will therefore bring in massive backlinks to the website. Backlinking provides significant SEO benefit to the website, as well as connecting your articles back to your website or product.

Article marketers provide an exhaustive explanation of the topic, even if it takes longer than 1000 words or more. They write one concrete, informative and readable article, and have it syndicated to those high quality, long-running websites all over the internet.

Backlinkers, however, merely compose approximately a 200 word paragraph, and refer to it as an article. They write only one piece of article, and have it spun into more or less 1,000 versions. They will then have these articles posted on thousands of here-today-gone-tomorrow autoblogs, where most spun articles quickly disappear.

Article marketers believe that quality is a lot more important than quantity. Unfortunately for backlinkers, they believe the opposite.

Mistake #2: Know Your Subject Better Than Your Readers

There are two reasons as to why it is helpful to publish articles in directories:
First - To get your articles republished by other website owners.
Second – To have the article readers click the links you’ve indicated in your resource box.
However, neither of these helpful things will happen if your article bears no substance and has little or no meaning at all. Website owners are capable of composing and publishing their own nonsense articles without linking them to other websites. Further, if the reader is already familiar with your article content, (as they probably will when you publish such fluff articles), then these types of instances will tend to drive them farther away from your website.

Just remember that article readers will follow you back to your website once they find your articles to be informative, direct, thorough and concrete. They’ll have trust in you.

Mistake #3: Create an Effective ‘Call to Action’ At the End of Your Article

Upon reaching the end of each article, most readers either go back to their previous page, return to their search results, while some others browse the entire site a little further. Unless the reader is provided with a compelling and effective reason to stay and explore your website, your reader might probably choose a different alternative.

Mistake #4: Follow Up With Your Readers Regularly

This is where the ‘Mailing List’ is extremely useful. You need to utilize your mailing list in order to stay in touch with not only your long-time valued readers, but also with the new comers. If you’re not in constant communication with your readers through the mailing list, you tend to lose money. Regardless if your website is only a pre-sell page for a newly released item, your first objective must always be to obtain your reader’s email address. After doing this, you can now send the reader towards the ‘Sales’ page. Otherwise, once the reader finishes his/her transaction, you’ve already lost the chance to get in touch with him/her. Considering that most online shoppers are needed to be exposed to offers prior to purchasing something, you’ll lose the majority of sales merely due to the fact that you did not attempt to follow up with your readers.

Mistake #5: Remember To Run Split Tests On Your Campaigns

Such questions like ‘Which anchor text converts better?’, ‘What resource box obtains the highest number of clickthroughs?’, ‘Which color headline brings in more signups?’ Up to the tiniest detail, right down to the font you decided to use in your website bears a major significance in your conversions. The only way to improve your sales and come up with more money is to constantly tweak and test your website. Don’t just let it sit there while you stare into space and wonder why you have no profit pouring in.
